                                                                       PRESS RELEASE

There is concordant information about the distribution of weapons to young people by the coalition of the Popular Front for the Renaissance of the Central African Republic (FPRC) in Ippy, prefecture of the Ouaka (central Central African Republic), with a view to continuing its offensive on Bambari in violation of the demarcation line held by the UN forces.
UNMISCA firmly condemned such maneuvers which, if implemented, would seriously endanger the lives of innocent populations and give rise to further attacks on peacekeepers.
UNMISCA urges the leaders of the RPF coalition to put an immediate end to these acts and stresses that they will bear full responsibility for any violence directed against the civilian population and UN forces. She urges the leaders of the coalition to take all their responsibilities and to withdraw from Ippy without delay, regaining their initial positions.
MINUSCA reiterates its previous calls and echoes those of the Central African Government and the international community to all armed groups, in particular the FPRC and the UPC (Movement for Unity and Peace in the Central African Republic) Hostilities and a firm commitment to dialogue advocated by both the national authorities and the African peace initiative.
UNMISCA will continue to carry out its mandate in full compliance with Security Council resolution 2301, with a view to protecting the civilian population, strengthening the authority of the State and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance. In this regard, it will spare no effort to reduce the presence and the threat that the armed groups continue to pose throughout the whole of Central African territory.
