Bangui, March 09, 2017 – The UN Integrated Multidimensional Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) condemns in the strongest possible terms the murder of a Senegalese peacekeeper in Bangui by unidentified armed individuals. The assault took place on Wednesday night and the helmet passed away a few hours later at the UNMISCA hospital where he was transported urgently.
UNMISCA denounces this vile and unjustified act and indicates that an investigation was immediately opened to shed light on this horrible incident and to determine the exact circumstances of its occurrence.
UNMISCA recalled that harming the life of a peacekeeper could be considered a war crime and stressed that everything would be in place to find the perpetrators so that they could be held accountable for their crimes.
MINUSCA expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the victim, his contingent and his country, Senegal.
